Camino Verde is a privately owned cocoa fermenter and producer located in Durán, just minutes from Guayaquil, Ecuador. The owner of Camino Verde, Vicente Norero, has years of experience in microbiology. This experiment brings a unique approach to postharvest fermentation of cocoa beans. Through his deep understanding of fermentation methods and using enzymes and inoculants, he produces a variety of unique flavor profiles and manages to extract specific aromas from the cocoa beans. This means that it is very unlikely that two Camino Verde candy bars from different manufacturers will taste the same. This is made possible by Camino Verde's advancements in the microbiology of fermentation of specific genetic types grown by different farms in the region.
Neo-Nacional Bio is in fact the legendary pure Nacional genetically modified/enhanced so that it can resist the bacteria that almost led to its downfall, without losing these characteristics and its unique taste, which is why it is calls it so.
We use these same cocoa beans to create our Ténébris chocolate pastilles and our Camino Verde bar. The beans offer fruity flavors of blackberries and red fruits with woody notes of almond, fudge and cocoa, with a little touch of floral sweetness. Ténébris is a dark and elegant chocolate, a real dark chocolate with exquisite pastilles.
